The European Union, India, Israel and now Brazil (is working toward this) have all banned animal testing, proving it is possible to have a thriving cosmetics industry without cruel animal tests.
We want to bring about change in South Africa, regarding the testing of cosmetics and personal care, using animals who suffer in cruel experiments and are routinely injected, gassed, force-fed and killed. We believe this is both unnecessary and ethically unacceptable. Modern technology and up to date non-animal methods are available, which are more reliable, faster and are cheaper than the animal tests they replace. The European Union, India, Israel and now Brazil (is working toward this) have all banned animal testing, proving it is possible to have a thriving cosmetics industry without cruel animal tests.
The good news is that a Bill, initiated by us in early 2017, is currently before the National Assembly, which is specifically to ban cosmetics animal testing in South Africa.
Please note that NO LIVING BEING needs to be used for any research at all, as there are available modern methods which are cost effective reliable and repeatable which use human or plant cells, tissues and computer models. We have already handed over a memorandum including 100+ organisations, businesses and HOAs representing many tens of thousands of people, and 5000 hand signed signatures of a petition. This year, for WDAIL we are asking your support in a different way. Visit https://bwcsa.co.za/educate-others/
