Celebrating Women Who Protect Life — the Cape Town Premiere of Stunning Pigs

On Women's Day, Beauty Without Cruelty and Omni Wellness Media brought a full day of film, music and honouring to The Masque Theatre in Muizenberg, including the Cape Town premiere of Stunning Pigs.
On Monday 10 August, the Women's Day public holiday, Beauty Without Cruelty and Omni Wellness Media brought Celebrating Women Who Protect Life to The Masque Theatre in Muizenberg — a full day of film, music, awards and conversation about the people who quietly defend life in this country.
The Cape Town premiere of Stunning Pigs
At the centre of the day was the Cape Town premiere of Stunning Pigs, a documentary examining the treatment of pigs in commercial slaughter in South Africa. Beauty Without Cruelty was associated with the screening alongside G.A.R.D.
It is a difficult film, and it was programmed with care — followed by discussion rather than judgement, and held within a day that was ultimately about hope. For fifty-one years Beauty Without Cruelty has worked to expose the exploitation of animals and to give the public the facts they need to choose differently. Events like this one are where that work meets people directly: not as statistics, but as an afternoon spent together, a hard film watched in company, and a conversation that carries on afterwards.
Three sessions across the day
What Feeds Us opened the programme in the morning, looking at food, land and the systems that shape what reaches our plates.
Stunning Pigs followed at midday — the Cape Town premiere, with time afterwards for reflection and questions.
Voices for Women closed the day with live music, performance and the honouring of women whose work protects life: the carers, rescuers, educators, activists and community leaders whose steady effort so often goes unseen.
Thank you
Our thanks to Omni Wellness Media for bringing the day together, to The Masque Theatre for hosting it, to G.A.R.D. and every partner, performer and honouree who took part, and to everyone who gave up a public holiday to spend it thinking about the animals we share this country with.
The conversation does not end with the credits. Beauty Without Cruelty's campaigns run year-round, and the Humane Guide lists every brand we have endorsed as cruelty-free — a practical way to carry the day's questions into an ordinary week.
